Powder Bathroom Reveal

THE BLACK MARBLE SINK OF MY DREAMS AND SOURCES FOR THE POWDER BATHROOM IN OUR #OLD96COLONIAL

Designing a powder bath is always fun! They are small spaces that, when given the opportunity, make a big statement and bring something unique and unexpected to a house. I find, because the doors are typically closed to powder baths, it’s a chance to make bold choices; when you and your guests walk in it’s a surprise! Our #old96colonial is light and bright throughout the house, so for this powder bathroom I leaned toward a ‘moody’ vibe. With the walls a darker greige (SW Mega Griege), brass accents, and my dream floating black marble sink, it’s just the feel I was going for.

Here is where we started - this is from the MLS when we purchased the home in July 2021.

Note: it was hard to photograph this room as there is no natural light! This is the most accurate photo to depict the paint color.

Here, my Chris Coleman piece is the only art in the room - he’s an incredibly talented artist, I love his esthetic, and this was my first painting from him - cowboy with a modern twist. The vase is a horsehair vase I picked up in Arizona on a recent trip. The Native Americans in the area apply horsehair to the ceramic, it burns off in the kiln to create that beautiful dark detailing!

The modern light fixture is a nice addition in here and helps balance the traditional elements. It’s hard to see in the photo, but the vintage 2 x 3 rug is something I found on Etsy (from this shop), and adds beautiful texture to the space! I added a leather hook for hand-towels, it’s currently out of stock but this one has similar shape and color.

This entire project was completed by Wade - a huge shout out to him! If you have questions on how things were plumbed or any other details, I am happy to share!

I hope this space inspires you to look at powder baths in a new way - paint them dark, add wallpaper or a mural, or a statement sink, take the opportunity to make them fun!

xx Alexis
